Valérie Bédard
Valérie Bédard
PhD candidate
Valérie is at the final stage of her doctoral studies in clinical psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, under the supervision of René-Pierre Le Scouarnec, psychologist.
During her clinical practicum and internships, she practiced assessment and intervention with a diverse clientele presenting various issues, such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, panic disorder, difficulties related to self-esteem, stress and emotion management, grief (human and animal), relational difficulties, sleep disorders, and substance use disorders. She also developed expertise working with police officers during her final internship, a population she wishes to continue supporting while maintaining a diversified practice.
Her rich life experiences contribute to offering a place to settle, exchange, and feel safe from judgment, and she works with authenticity, warmth, and empathy.
Her therapeutic approach is primarily based on cognitive-behavioral therapy, into which she integrates elements from humanistic approaches. Depending on the issues, she also incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Young’s Schema Therapy.
Valérie offers psychological assessment services and individual psychotherapy for an adult clientele.
